Kora is the Gujarati word for cloth that has not been bleached or dyed. We started in 2019 with one roll of it, a cutting table in Navrangpura and four tailors.
Today we work with eleven weaving households across Kutch, Ponduru, Phulia and Patan. We buy their cloth by the roll at a price agreed before the loom is set, and we pay half up front.
Most of what we make is left undyed. Where there is colour, it comes from iron, harda, madder, kattha and indigo, done by dyers in Ajrakhpur and Bagru.
